We understand that not everyone owns a car or wishes to drive and that alternatives are necessary.

This is why for Fling there will be a Festival Shuttle Bus running from the city centre to Hylands Park (and back again of course!) throughout the day. There will also be a concentrated number of shuttle buses before the event starts at 12noon and just after the event finishes at 11pm.

How do I get to the Festival?

How do I get to the Festival?

You can reach Hylands Park (situated on the A414) by private car, taxi, bicycle, on foot or by shuttle bus.

If you travel by car, you will only be able to access the Festival via the entrance off the westbound carriageway towards Harlow. The postcode is CM2 8WQ. Parking is only £2.50 and you will need a ticket purchased in advance (see more info below)

If you are seeking a lift or have spare seats in your car then check out The Fling Festival Liftshare scheme. Save money by splitting the petrol costs and reduce your carbon footprint! Register her76

A dedicated Festival Shuttle Bus will operate from the city centre to the Festival throughout the day, with more buses operating just before the start and just after the end of the Festival. The number of shuttle buses available will be precisely determined by the number of tickets sold in advance. Therefore it is important that you purchase shuttle bus tickets as soon as you know you need to travel in this way. The last bus to Hylands from the city centre is at approx. 8:30pm on the day. Note that last access to the Festival is at 9.30pm.

Tickets are only £6 return and the timetable and collection point/s will be announced shortly. It will be a short walk from the Festival Bus Stop at Hylands Park to the Festival.

For more detailed travel information including pedestrian and cycle routes can be found at www.chelmsford.gov.uk/gettingtohylands

How far will I have to walk from the Festival car park, bus stop or drop-off point?

How far will I have to walk from the Festival car park, bus stop or drop-off point?

Not very far at all. A further advantage of Hylands Park is that the distance from the Festival Car Park, the Bus Stop and the Festival Drop-off/Pick-up Point will be significantly shorter than the equivalent walking required last year. The free Festival Car Park is literally adjacent to the Festival site.

Is there a place nearby to drop-off and collect passengers?

Is there a place nearby to drop-off and collect passengers?

Yes, there will be a Festival Drop-off/Pick-up Point near to the Festival entrance – please follow relevant signage. There will also be space nearby for taxis to drop-off and collect customers. Please consider sharing vehicles whenever possible to minimise the environmental impact.

What if I can’t drive to Hylands Park? What are the alternatives?
